ABOUT OUR FIRM
Straughn Trout Architects demonstrates leadership in architectural design through its innovative, sustainable, and holistic design philosophy. Founded by Mr. Earnest A. Straughn in 1956, our firm serves a range of clients, stemming from non-profit organizations to large scale public entities, impacting countless individuals. Our firm’s architectural expertise is woven into the landscape of Polk County, Central Florida, and beyond, forming immeasurable relationships along the way. We offer the tradition of a “hands-on” approach for each project and “always available” attitude for clients and partners.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
COLLABORATION
Collaborative design yields projects developed from clear-thinking and thorough analysis. From day one, our clients become part of the design team and drive decisions related to the project.
COMMUNICATION
We establish and maintain open lines of communication from ideation through closeout. Highly successful projects stem from clearly-articulated goals and expectations blended with ongoing dialogues and idea-sharing.
COMMUNITY
Our families live, work, and play in the same types of facilities we design, influencing our dedication to improving the communities we serve. Our designs directly reflect an awareness of stakeholder needs.
CONTEXT
Throughout the design process, our team directly responds to locality and natural surroundings, performing thorough research and investigations of the environmental, social, economic, and architectural factors (among others) affecting each project.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainable practices are an inherent component to our designs. Our team works with clients and partners to find the most sustainable avenues for each project, regardless of official certification, that will deliver the highest value in terms of both construction and life-cycle costs.
SYNERGY
As innovative thinkers, we approach each project with holistic design considerations. We tailor all elements of a project to meet each client’s unique program and develop professionally-executed projects that exceed client expectations.
