This project was the first completed new building to open on the Florida Polytechnic University campus, originally designed by famed international architect, Santiago Calatrava. Ava Parker, Interim COO, said the facility is a great way to illustrate to visitors what’s ahead for the university stating, “the Admissions Center is a gateway for students and their families to become a part of this unique, 21st century University.”
The interiors are minimal, contemporary and aligned with the brand of Florida’s newest and twelfth state university. A video wall made up of sixteen (16) 55” LCD flat panel displays allows visitors to learn more about the current and future growth plans for the only STEM focused university in the state.
As an instrumental partner in the design-build team, STA provided the architectural design and construction drawings for this project in less than 30 days. Construction was completed in three months. This was critical to meet the University’s ambitious schedule to open the facility in November of 2013, only 9 months before the first students arrived on campus for classes.
This project was awarded a 2013 Master Builder Award from Star Building Systems as “Best of the School Category.”
