PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This mixed-use Wellness Center was developed in an effort to provide a comprehensive university experience for students, faculty and staff with a focus on Auxiliary Services and Student Life. As the fifth and final structure completed as part of the initial campus development, it was opened “just in time” for the inaugural Florida Polytechnic University’s student body to access August of 2014. The primary components include the campus dining hall / food services, a Barnes & Noble bookstore, fitness area, health clinic administered by Lakeland Regional Health, the printing services offered by Ricoh, transportation, parking and central receiving.

Aesthetically, the building continues the contemporary look and feel of other campus facilities with a clean, minimal and modern design. Similar to the Admissions Center, a pre-engineered building structure expedited construction time to meet the university’s academic calendar and was online when the first classes began. The site was chosen in an existing clearing between trees in an easily accessible area of campus. STA worked with the design-build team and the University Administration to provide a facility that not only met its present needs but also remained flexible for future uses.
