This project is the first phase of the church’s recently adopted campus master plan. The Family Life Center is designed with a physical connection to the existing two story education building that provides additional offices, classrooms and youth spaces, complimenting the Church’s early childhood education and day care facility established in the community many years ago. The site placement of the Center preserves the existing central open space with new hardscaping and landscaping. This shared space and informal promenade connects the existing children’s playgrounds to the existing (and future) sanctuary.
This area provides flexibility with integrated stage and sound booth to accommodate worship services and children’s performances. The full commercial kitchen supports various fellowship events and recreation. The two-story glass northeast entry becomes iconic of the revitalized campus and enriches the welcome lobby and coffee bar adjacent indoor and outdoor spaces to gather, to rest, to wait, to eat and to fellowship. Shower & changing room areas are incorporated into the other restroom facilities on the ground floor to support a variety of athletic events in the gymnasium.
Other spaces on the ground floor include a dedicated choir rehearsal room with tiered flooring, general classrooms and small meeting rooms. The second floor spaces are dedicated to additional classroom and youth room activity spaces.
Following the new Family Life Center and renovations to the existing two-story educational building, the existing sanctuary will be demolished and replaced with a larger new sanctuary in the same locations.
